Firearms Training

GSD Sports & Adventure offers three firearms courses designed to turn beginners into shooters and shooters into marksmen. Learn to be safe and confident working with an array of different firearms. Home defense, sport, or just plain fun, we’re here to meet your needs.

Firearms classes are not currently scheduled; however, private lessons are always available, so contact us instead!

Private Lessons - $60/hr + $20/hr/additional person*

We offer private shooting lessons to improve your accuracy, technique, and overall comfortability wielding a variety of pistols. You may use one of ours but we strongly encourage you to bring your own. We use the range at Range Time Guns & Outfitting in Wilmington, NC.

GSD Firearms Course - $175*

Take a comprehensive survey of many different types of firearms including four different handguns, a shotgun, a hunting (sniper) rifle, and an assault rifle. This high-value offer provides you in-depth shooting lessons on a variety of different firearms using different types of ammunition and calibers.

NRA Basic Pistol - $125*

The official NRA course is the most basic handgun course taught across the United States. This class offers the fundamentals of handgun marksmanship for sport or plinking pleasure. NRA textbook and certificate included. We provide an opportunity to handle a .22 caliber Ruger Wrangler six-shooter (no kick), a .22 caliber Ruger Mark IV semi-auto (no kick), the versatile 9mm Glock G17 semi-auto (middle kick), and the iconic .38 Special (you’ll feel it).

GSD Basic Pistol - $100*

This is similar to the NRA Basic Pistol course but does not include NRA materials or certification.

BASIC Rifle - $100*

This class offers the fundamentals of rifle marksmanship. You will learn to shoot and operate a shotgun with the beautiful Darya Arms Carina 18” pump-action tactical shotgun. You will learn to shoot and operate a hunting (sniper) rifle with the legendary Remington 700 series .308 caliber rifle. You will learn to shoot and operate an assault rifle with the iconic M15. You couldn’t ask for a better introduction to long guns.

GSD Firearms maintenance course +$50 (With any course or lesson)

Learn how to disassemble, clean, and maintain your firearm or learn on some of ours. There’s really no point in owning a firearm unless you know how to safely handle and maintain them.

NRA Pistol Marksmanship Qualification +$50 (with any course or lesson)

Earn an official NRA Qualification.

  • Level 1: Red is four five shot groups within the four‐inch circle at 10 feet.

  • Level 2: White is four five shot groups within the four‐inch circle at 15 feet.

  • Level 3: Blue is four five shot groups within the four‐inch circle at 20 feet.

  • Level 4: Shoot like an instructor. This is four five-shot groups within the six-inch circle at 45 feet.
